The Springbox Meadow takes its name from the historic spring house, whose walls remain as a reminder of the agricultural part of the area's past.  This sweeping hillside oak savanna contains several large, old Oregon white oaks known as "legacy oaks", and is crossed by Trails 3 and 38.
