This 1830's farmhouse served as the hub of activity for the family who originally lived here, the Noffsingers. Here, they raised food to feed the family and products to aid in everyday life by farming crops and raising livestock. The house was also a place to gather for meals and spend family time.
In 1960's, the farm including this house became Possum Creek MetroPark. Inside are offices for MetroParks staff who continue to farm the land. The house is of Federal architectural style, and some features of Georgian architecture. The original walls are at least two bricks thick. It has a simple symmetrical layout of rooms, boxlike horizontal lines, and the windows are arranged symmetrically around a center doorway. The house has a quarter round window in each gable end of the house, and chimneys at both ends of the house.
The farmhouse is not open to the public. However, if you see our staff outside, say hello and ask any questions you may have.
