Park at the Teton Way Trailhead, located off Skislope way. Head up the dirt road, through the green gate and find the start of the Tiwinot Trail. This intermediate trail winds its way through a diverse landscape of old growth trees, deciduous foliage, and open vistas with views of Donner Lake. The trail ends at the Glacier Way parking lot at the top of Tahoe Donner.

This out and back trip between parking areas is just under 3.5 miles and has short sections of steep travel. For a longer trip, continue on through the Glacier Way parking area to the Glacier Way Trail. The end of this trail connects to a section of the Donner Lake Rim Trail, leading up to more expansive views at the Drifter Hut. This extension adds an additional 2 miles, making a round-trip journey of 5.5 miles.
