The Conservation Area is located on the south side of Oslo Road (9th Street SE), east of US Highway 1. Parking is available at the South Oslo Conservation Area (on the north side of Oslo Road), or at the Audubon House.

This 143-acre preserve includes a wonderful mixture of pine flatwoods, mature coastal hammock, scrubby flatwoods and mangrove wetlands. The maritime hammock community is at a climax, mature stage of growth. Some of the live oaks dominating the canopy of the hammock are hundreds of years old, and are capable of living many years to come. Native groundcover and understory is composed of wild coffee, myrsine, marlberry, firebush, native wildflowers, saw palmetto, cabbage palms and a wide array of other hammock species. A walk along one of the trails provides the visitor with a view of scrubby and mesic flatwoods full of wildlife including neo-tropical songbirds, native songbirds, woodpeckers, hawks, and squirrels. You may be lucky enough to see a bald eagle flying overhead scanning the area near their nest in the southern portion of the property.

We encourage the public to enjoy observing wildlife and learning about our conservation efforts by visiting our information kiosk at the various entrances to the conservation area. Please remember to leave only footprints on site!
